Private Lessons
Private chess lessons at the Way of the Board give scholastic and adult players the personalized guidance they need to overcome challenges and master difficult concepts.

Parents or players can schedule a private lesson for chess players at the chess club as available. Each session is 60 minutes in length, $45 fee/session with high school tutor, or $55 fee/session with Terry or Stav.
After initial lesson, players may take advantage of a bundle discount of $250 for 5 lessons with Terry or Stav, or $200 for 5 lessons with Danilo.
Available time slots are usually:
Terry (club director & coach) -
Sunday afternoons between 2 and 5:30 PM, Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays at 6:15 PM.
(Not currently accepting scheduling for new players)
Stav (associate coach) - Saturday 1:15 PM (after the 12 PM Rooks class)
Danilo (high school assistant) - Monday (5:30 - 6:30PM)
Next Steps
For business liability reasons, when a high school student is giving a private lesson to a scholastic player, the parent is required to be present.

Stav Appel is a retired data scientist who has been playing chess for over 40 years. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of chess with others, with a focus on encouraging the growth mind set, calmness, and self-assurance needed to excel in competitive play.

Danilo Lopez is a junior in high school whose long term goal is to become an engineer. Danilo has been playing chess for over a decade and is excited to share his knowledge to help others improve their strategies, tactics, and overall confidence in chess.
