September class enrollment opens August 1st latest, visit us again later or email hello@wayoftheboard.org with any questions.
Suggested age range: 2nd grade to 8th grade, although younger players may be considered after an assessment game.
Meeting time: 4 Saturdays a month from 12 PM - 1:15 PM.
Program description: This group class assumes intermediate knowledge of chess. Players should already know how to read and write algebraic annotation, basic tactics such as forks and checkmate patterns, and terminology such as en passant and zugzwang. Players have either completed the workbook "Everyone's First Chess Workbook", are making progress in doing so, or have equivalent knowledge. They are encouraged to participate in local or regional USCF rated chess tournaments and actively pursue chess proficiency outside of club meetings via a combination of tactics workbooks, chess literature reading, and online resources.
